SOMATIC PRACTICES
Connecting Mind, Body, and Healing
Our minds and bodies and inextricably linked. Somatic practices can help you feel more grounded, build self-awareness, and create space for healing, growth, and meaningful change.
A natural integration
Becca discovered her love of counseling through yoga (see more on the About page). Therefore, she offers a variety of somatic experiences and sees our minds and bodies as inextricably linked.
She offers non-directive play therapy with children (which can sometimes be rambunctious), walking sessions with teenagers and adults as desired, and frequently pauses to notice our body sensations throughout talk therapy sessions.

A Path Rooted in Training
Becca has been interested in the body’s capacity to heal historic, sometimes traumatic, experiences for much of her adult life and has attended workshops and trainings at the Center for Trauma and Embodiment since 2022 (see more on the ‘About’ page for specifics).
Becca earned her Yoga Teacher Training certificate in 2014 and began teaching yoga weekly in 2016. She continues to teach to this day, and has taken multiple additional trainings on the integration of trauma and other experiences through yoga through yoga studios and the Trauma Center (see below).
Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY)
Through her certification to teach the Trauma Center’s Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) she will be able to offer clients attuned present-moment experiences from a non-coercive power dynamic, during which participants can learn (and unlearn) to make individual choices based on one’s own needs and preferences.
By offering choices through present-moment experiences, participants can learn to explore their preferences, choices, feel the impact of their choices in an embodied way, and potentially learn to make alternative choices that are a better fit for the present moment.
Trauma often continues to reside in our bodies long after the experience (additional research) and participants can reclaim a sense of agency of their bodies and choices through the TCTSY method.
Starting in the spring or summer of 2027, Becca will be able to offer this practice to counseling clients individually, groups and through online methods.
